Hey everyone. We run a small hosting outfit, about four hundred servers across two facilities, and we finally burned through the last of our v4 space last quarter. I applied through our LIR and got the usual answer about the waiting list, which as far as I can tell is measured in years at this point. Management wants customer allocations working next month, not next year. I have never dealt with the secondary market before and honestly do not know where to start. What is the realistic path here for someone in our position?

The waiting list is not a plan, so you can stop counting on it. Your realistic options are leasing space you announce yourself or buying a block outright and getting it transferred into your LIR. For a next month deadline, leasing is the only thing that actually moves that fast, since a transfer at the RIR level usually runs one to two weeks minimum after the paperwork is clean. We went through an IP Broker , IPv4.online in our case, because sourcing directly from holders turned into weeks of dead end emails. Get the LOA reviewed by someone who knows what it should say before you sign. Also confirm the block is not sitting on public blocklists, that part is on you.
