Bought a used car in Al Nahda and now I'm second guessing everything

So I finally pulled the trigger on a 2018 Nissan Altima I found through a guy in Al Nahda. The price seemed fair, mileage was decent, and the seller was super chill during the test drive. But now…Continue

Anyone know a plastic crates supplier in Dubai that sells foldable ones for event storage?

I run a small event decor rental company in Al Quoz and space is always an issue in our warehouse. We have all these rigid plastic crates for storing linens, centerpieces, and small decor items, but…Continue

Looking at a used Range Rover Sport – anyone used this inspection site?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Gordon Rumbold Jun 29. 5 Replies

I'm seriously considering buying a 2017 Range Rover Sport from a private seller, but I've heard too many horror stories about air suspension failures and timing chain issues on these 5.0 engines to…Continue

Mustang GT 10 speed transmission shudder – anyone know a good Sharjah shop?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Gordon Rumbold Jun 27. 5 Replies

I've got a 2019 Mustang GT with the 10R80 and it's developed that awful low speed shudder that everyone talks about, especially when the transmission is warm. The dealer in Dubai wants to charge me…Continue

Bought a used car in Al Nahda and now I'm second guessing everything

So I finally pulled the trigger on a 2018 Nissan Altima I found through a guy in Al Nahda. The price seemed fair, mileage was decent, and the seller was super chill during the test drive. But now that I've had it for a week I'm noticing small things like a slight vibration when braking and the AC taking a bit longer to cool than I expected. Nothing catastrophic but it's making me wonder if I should've been more careful. A friend mentioned he got a…See More

"Getting a denial letter can be frustrating, especially when the reasons aren’t immediately clear. I’d keep the letter, supporting documents, dates, and any related correspondence together before deciding what to do next. If the issue…"

Gordon Rumbold replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Looking at a used Range Rover Sport – anyone used this inspection site?
"Any inspection service worth trusting will test the air suspension through its full range on a lift, not just a visual check. That single test reveals more about the condition of these cars than almost anything else."

Godfrey Glossop replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Looking at a used Range Rover Sport – anyone used this inspection site?
"2017 Sport with the 5.0 is a great car if it is clean but a money pit if it has been neglected. Paying for a thorough inspection report is the cheapest insurance you can buy before handing over serious cash."

Giles Milburn replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Looking at a used Range Rover Sport – anyone used this inspection site?
"Put it on a lift and check the underside for oil leaks around the transfer case and differential seals too. Those get overlooked on standard inspections but are expensive surprises on high mileage Sports."

Gabriel Pimlott replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Looking at a used Range Rover Sport – anyone used this inspection site?
"Hidden fault codes on a used Range Rover Sport are extremely common because sellers clear them before listing. A proper scan with Land Rover specific software will catch anything that has been wiped recently."

Frank Whistlecroft replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Looking at a used Range Rover Sport – anyone used this inspection site?
"Air suspension and timing chain issues on the 5.0 Sport are well documented. A pre purchase inspection that specifically tests suspension height calibration and checks for coolant contamination is not optional on this generation."

Gordon Rumbold replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Mustang GT 10 speed transmission shudder – anyone know a good Sharjah shop?
"Confirming they have the correct software for the TCM update is the most important question before choosing any shop for this job. The fluid flush alone without the calibration update almost never provides a permanent fix."

Godfrey Glossop replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Mustang GT 10 speed transmission shudder – anyone know a good Sharjah shop?
"S550 Mustang owners in UAE have a fairly active community online. Asking directly in local Mustang or American muscle groups will get you a reliable Sharjah recommendation faster than any website search."

Giles Milburn replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Mustang GT 10 speed transmission shudder – anyone know a good Sharjah shop?
"Sharjah workshops that handle American muscle transmissions exist and some know the 10R80 shudder fix procedure very well. Ask specifically about their experience with this exact issue before booking anything."

Gabriel Pimlott replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Mustang GT 10 speed transmission shudder – anyone know a good Sharjah shop?
"The proper fluid spec and adaptation reset after the flush is what makes the fix actually stick long term. A shop that skips the reset or uses the wrong fluid will have you back with the same shudder within months."

Frank Whistlecroft replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Mustang GT 10 speed transmission shudder – anyone know a good Sharjah shop?
"Low speed shudder on the 10R80 when warm is a well documented issue and the triple flush with software update is the established fix. Dealer charging 2k for essentially a fluid change is hard to justify."

Gordon Rumbold replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Dodge Charger brake pads – what's the real difference between these two?
"The heat range difference between cheap and genuine Mopar pads becomes very obvious the first time you really push the car. For mostly street driving it might seem fine until the one moment it isn't, and that is not a risk worth taking on a…"

Godfrey Glossop replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Dodge Charger brake pads – what's the real difference between these two?
"Scat Pack brakes already run hot under normal aggressive driving in Dubai summer. Pads only rated for normal driving are genuinely not suitable for how most Scat Pack owners actually use their cars."

Giles Milburn replied to Jofra Archer's discussion Dodge Charger brake pads – what's the real difference between these two?
"OEM quality and genuine Mopar are not the same thing regardless of how similar the listings look. Friction material rating and heat range are what actually matter and the price difference usually reflects exactly that."
